TIDA-010025: Development of BLAC/BLDC drive

thank you for your interest in the TI design and the C2000 Microcontrollers. The C2000 MCUs are very well suited for development of BLAC/BLDC drives with cascaded control of position, speed and torque (FOC).

The DesignDRIVE Development Kit (IDDK) hardware offers an integrated servo drive design with full power stage to drive a high voltage three-phase motor and eases the evaluation of a diverse range of position feedback, current sensing and control topologies. The sophisticated sensing peripherals on the C2000™ MCU, including eight delta-sigma sinc filters, four high-performance 16-bit ADCs and eight windowed comparators, enable the DesignDRIVE Kit to support shunt, fluxgate / Hall, and delta-sigma current sensing simultaneously. For position feedback, the kit leverages Position Manager solutions integrated integrated on the C2000 MCU supporting EnDat, BiSS, T-format, A-format, incremental encoders as well as SINCOS and resolver analog sensors. In addition, customers can also explore configuration options that allow the MCU to be placed on either side of the high-voltage isolation barrier. The IDDK is supplied by a single set of 110V/220V AC mains, delivers up to 8 Amps and is rated to drive motors up to one horsepower.

please go to "Design Files" to download the BOM, Layer Plots, Schematics and even Gerber files. An important note you will find in the user's guide too is: 

TI intends this EVM to be operated in a lab environment only and does not consider it to be a finished product for general consumer use. Hence

please consider this when building your board. To increase the power level (e.g. at the same DC-link voltage) you'd need to follow common design practices,

such as validating if the IPM (a non TI product) is capable of driving 2kW at the temperature range you specify and the current sense shunts are specified to

handle the current your specify for nominal / maximum current and temperature range. 

To learn more about design practices of 3-power stages, I'd recommend reading the our various reference designs for 3-phase power stages, which you can find under the link http://www.ti.com/solution/servo-drive-power-stage-module I mentioned above already. Examples include TIDA-010025, TIDA-00366, TIDA-01349. Especially www.ti.com/tool/tida-01349

You can find even more reference designs for e.g. servo drive power stages under http://www.ti.com/solution/servo-drive-power-stage-module In the block diagram select the building block 3-phase power stage, and you’ll see relevant reference designs on the right. Please note that you can select between three different subsystems in the block diagram, IGBT, IPM and DC-fed 3-phase power stage.

An IPM is an intelligent power module (e.g. includes gate driver and IGBT), please refer to www.ti.com/tool/tida-01349 where we use and IPM. The design guide give more details.

Regarding software development on C2000: Please refer to http://www.ti.com/tool/DESIGNDRIVE  where you can find the corresponding information on developing software:  

DesignDRIVE Software is supported by the C2000 controlSUITE™ package (original projects) or C2000Ware MotorControl SDK (latest projects) and includes the Fast Current Loop, examples for speed and position loops, drivers for Position Manager solutions and many current sensors to help developers jumpstart their evaluation and development. In addition, the kits come with TI’s Code Composer Studio™ integrated development environment (IDE), providing code generation and debugging capabilities.

Hello,

I assume you refer to the http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDM-SERVODRIVE#technicaldocuments?  In that case you may check for a free Gerber file viewer or editor of your choice. TI does not offers such tools.

If you however refer to the TIDA-010025 reference design, you can download the entire Altium CAD file from the corresponding TI design folder. In that case you would be able to modify that CAD project by using Altium Designer.

We do not have the CAD files for the TIDM-SERVODRIVE though. In that specific case, you may search the internet or contact a PCB tools vendor of your choice to get a Gerber file editor.
