BQ40Z50R1 - Board Offset Calibration

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

Hi All,

I'm working with BQ40Z50R1 right now.

Do I need to do board offset calibration for this BQ, is it necessary to do it for this BQ, like we us to do the for other Fuel Gauge.

Even I tried checking documents, it's different in different documents.

Can anyone help me out?

  • Hello Raghavan,

Yes, please try to do a board offset calibration if you can.

  • Hi Kang,

    Thank you for the reply.

I believe the Board Offset Calibration is to ensure the BMS reports zero current when no load is applied. Per SLUA734A, 2.4.2 “ Due to hardware improvements in this device, Board Offset calibration is not necessary. Only run the Board Offset Calibration procedure if board offset current is observed.”

Based on the above mentioned, do I need to do board offset calibration?

If I try to do the board offset calibration, there is a offset in current when I try to power up the BMS with no load condition.

As I change the boards offset value manually in BQstudio, current offset is gone.

    Please advise me

    Thanks

  • Hello Nhizanth,

Since the offset is gone with the board calibration, please try it with a few more boards. If they are all gone after doing board offset, then it may be a good idea to do board offset calibration.
