Hi Larry,
What exactly does not work under Windows XP? Can you download
tina-ti_version_7-0_program_installation-use_for_initial_installation-g.exe
to your local Windows XP harddrive? When you start the installer, do
you get any windows/dialogs?
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Mike.
The program downloads and executes. During extraction, .cab files etc. are copied, then the hour glass appears for several seconds and nothing else happens.

Hi Larry,
The installer consists of two parts. The first part unpacks the
installation files. The second part does the actual install. It looks
like second part is failing.
Please try the following:
1) Please make sure you have "Administrator" privileges on the Windows XP machine. Installation will fail if you don't.
2) Please make sure you have > 200MB of free disk space on drive C:.
3) Please delete the contents of "C:\Documents and
Settings\<uid>\Local Settings\Temp". Please reboot after you clear
this directory.
If the installation fails again, there will hopefully be a log file in "C:\Documents and Settings\<uid>\Local Settings\Temp" or one of its sub-directories. Could you please post its contents.
Thanks,
Michael

Hi Michael,
Unfortunately, no log files were created. The directory "pft103~tmp" is created and two processes are running: "tina-ti_version_7-0_program_installation-use_for_initial_installation-g.exe", and "Setup.exe".
Any other suggestions?
Larry
Hi Larry,
If you look at the "Event Viewer" (Start -> Settings ->
Administrative Tools -> Event Viewer), do you see any relevant
messages/warnings/errors generated when you start the installer.
Also, would it be possible to disconnect this Windows XP machine from
all networks, reboot (without network connection), and attempt the
installation again?
Regards,
Michael

Hi Michael,
I've made several attempts at disconnecting from the outside world both today and yesterday. Sorry, no event messages from either day.
Larry
Hi Larry,
Unfortunately, in the absence of any further debug information, I cannot think of any other hints or suggestions.
Sorry,
Michael

Larry,
One of our TINA users had the following comment when having similar issues to yours:
The cleanest way that I have found to make the program install is to start windows in ‘Safe Mode’ which effectively disables everything apart from the core Windows services. That minimises the risk of another program interfering with the install and Tina installs without a problem in safe mode. That fix should work for the vast majority of your people who have this problem.
This is the only additional suggestion that I could come up with.
Britt
I am also seeing the same problem on Windows XP. i.e. it unpacks but then doesn't install. If the fix is rebooting into safe mode, I will stick with LT Spice....
