TIDA-01606: Regarding Isolation Requirement

Part Number: TIDA-01606

Hello,

From the block  diagram of the reference design, I feel that the controller is not electrically isolated from the the High Voltage Side. And the current sensor (Igridsense) used is an ISO device. I feel that this ISO device is not required when the voltage sensors are not isolated one. If it is used for Common mode voltage related issue, we can use Hall CT(which is used to measure Iinv sense). I am unable to understand why the ISO device is used. Please help me to understand this.

Remain safe and healthy

Thanks & Regards,

 Adiga

  • Hi,

The AMC device is used for current sensing only for the the common mode voltage. You could use a hall sensor too as is also used in this design for the same purpose.

You could use a CT too as long as you are ok with the bigger dimension of the CT.

    Best Regards,
