WEBENCH® Tools/TPS562201: Generate 3V3 using the 4.5V input

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Dear Sir,

We want to use the TPS562201 to generate 3V3 using the 4V5.

As per output voltage transform equation, Vin = Vout /0.75 and minimum input voltage is 4.5V. We can generate the 3V3 using the 4V5 voltage.

But, as per the WEBENCH tool, required minimum input voltage is 4V9 voltage.

Is this limitation of the switcher or tool? Please confirm.

    Hi Kiran,

    Yes for your given condition the device is violating maximum duty cycle of 75%. 

    To calculate the duty cycle you also need to consider other voltage drops (voltage drop across switches, dead time effect) as well as all the components are not ideal.

    Due to which the minimum Vin required for Vout=3.3V is 4.9V.
