TIDA-01606: Bi-directional controlled rectifier

Part Number: TIDA-01606

Hello,

  • TIDA-01606 is a 3 phase inverter. Is it bi-directional? If so what would be the expected ripple at the DC side? Is 10KW continuous rating? What is the allowable peak power rating? What is the allowable duty cycle of that peak power?

Regards

Sam

  • Hi Sam,

    Thank you for the query.

Yes, the topology is a bidirectional rectifier/inverter and designed to handle 10KW.

The design has four 120uF capacitors connected in parallel to give an effective capacitance of 480uF to keep DC side ripple to 5%.

The board has been tested upto its rated (average) capacity of 10KW to deliver continuous power but I am not sure of it's instantaneous peak allowable power. The use case of this converter is for DC charging station and Solar String inverter so we did not test it for max. allowable peak power. Are you looking for motor drive drive application?

Please let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you

  • Thanks Harish for your response

    • If we use that design as a controlled rectifier with the appropriate control software we should be able to control the output DC voltage down to 12V. Correct? And we should also be able to control the power factor. Correct?
    • Yes we are looking for a bi-directional inverter for motor application

  • Hi Sam,

This topology should work as a controlled AC-DC front end rectifier for controlled DC output voltages with power factor control. This TI reference design works as a boost PFC to produce DC link voltages of 600/800/1000V for 3 phase AC input 400V AC input, so it needs to be scaled according to 12V output use case.

    Thank you

  • Thanks Harish

We need contact details of a TI Person/Team that can adjust some reference designs for us. We understand that we need to pay for this service. Can you pls send us such contact details.

    Regards,

    Sam
