TIDA-00630: In USB 3 TX and RX pairs are connected to the opposite polarity pin from connector to MUX

Part Number: TIDA-00630

Hello!

I am working with the TIDA-00630 reference design to design my own USB type c hub using TI hardware.

In the reference i saw the the CRX1N from the type c UFP is connected to CRX1P on the MUX and vice versa.

Should it be that way? did it work to anybody that can aprove that it works?

Also, in the DFP, the net CTX1N_DFP1 is connected to pin C0P on the MUX and CTX1P_DFP1 to C0N (Fliped polarity)
but CRX2P_DFP1 is connected to B1P (Not flipped). Is that right?

  • Hello,

This mux does not care about super speed polarity because it is a passive mux. They can be swapped and still function with the mux. Also please keep in mind that USB 3.0 supports polarity inversion natively.  Please reach out to the mux team for more information. This E2E thread shows a little from the USB3.x specification discussing the polarity inversion:
