When we change the Vsense resistor to 1.5k to set our desired Idsth to 6.4A. The device is not switching ON in simulation. when the load at the output is 5A, Please let me know if I'm missing something in the simulation, If the Vsense Resistor value is 9.09k it works well.

Hi Rajkumar,

Are you able to start with load of 2A, 3A, 4A ?

Can you share more details about your system and application requirements. Do you need Q100 device ?

Do you need overcurrent and short circuit protection ?

Hi Rakesh,

Thankyou, I cant able to start with 2A ,3A and 4A also, I'm using this device for overcurrent protection.

As I'm debugging LM5060 may not require Q100.

For non Q100 requirement, we recommend TPS1663 device.

Hi Rajkumar,

During startup the load current will be Cout*dvout/dt + Vout/ Rload. If this summation exceeds your set current limit, the device will fault timeout and not able to make successful startup.

You either has to (1) increase current limit or (2) reduce ramp rate (with additional cap on GATE) and set higher timer cap to support longer startup time due to slower Vout ramp rate.

Hi Rakesh,

Thanks for your suggestion, When i increase the timer cap, startup is successful, But how do i confirm the SOA of Mosfet for that time.

Hi Raj,

LM5060 is not good choice for protection. It should be treated as OVP control switch and overcurrent protection for slow rising overloads. No short circuit protection and not SOA protection for the FET.

For that please use TPS1663 or LM5069
