WEBENCH® Tools: How to make a copy of Webench design? (Save As?)

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I see no way to make a copy of my Webench design.  I want to save a primary version, then modify a copy so I can compare versions. Help, pls!

  • Hi Kevin,

Every WEBENCH design is saved into the MY DESIGN tab with a specific design ID. WEBENCH allows you to export the design and print the design report in the EXPORT tab as shown below. You can compare the different design reports.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Praveen

  • Your suggestion does not solve my issue.

I want a DUPLICATE button between OPEN and DELETE.

    PROBLEM:

Design 1 has the suggested BOM parts.

Design 2 has *all* Alternative Parts selected in the BOM

Design 3 has *some* different Alternative Parts selected in the BOM

Design 4  has slightly different INPUT and OUTPUT specs (from 1,2,3) and Alternative Parts

    etc.

If the above requires creating multiple designs from scratch, please add DUPLICATE to next revisions features.

  • Hi Kevin,

Currently, WEBENCH doesn't have an option to duplicate the design. We will forward your feedback to the development team. However, you can use the below option which works similarly to copy the design.

    1. Create the WEBENCH Design 1

    2. Click on 'Share Design' and copy the Public URL.

    3. Open the URL in the new tab

4.The new design will create a copy of the previous design with a different WEBENCH design ID.

5.Change the BOM and repeat the procedure for the next design.

Hope this helps to resolve your issue.

    Thanks & Regards,

    Praveen

  • Good!

Now, doesn't seem like editing the name of the design is possible. The "Change Design Name" pop-up does not save. Also, changing the design name in the "Share this Design" popup has no effect.

    Thoughts?

  • Hi Kevin,

You can change the design name as shown below.
