TIDA-050047: TIDA-050047 Interrupt Pin + PSU Input Question

Part Number: TIDA-050047
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, BQ25792, TPS26750

Hi all,

I have a customer currently considering to use the BQ25792 and the TPS25750 but had a question about their interaction with each other and using a PSU:

  • Does the interrupt pin need to be connected between the BQ25792 and the TPS25750 for correct operation?

  • If you connect the USB input to a PSU (No D+/D- or CC lines) and set it on 5V @2A,  will the  battery charger still charge or will the TPS26750 cut off the supply?

Thank you,

Filipe Rubinstein

  • Hi Filipe,

No the interrupt pin does not need to be connected. If you do not provide CC, then the PD controller will not be able to negotiate the proper contract and program the battery charger without the configurations. Therefore, I do not believe you will be able to charge this way.

    Thank you,

    Hari
