[FAQ] PSPICE-FOR-TI: Why can't I plot more than three signals in PSpice for TI?

I am using a model created for PSpice. Yet during simulation, an error message showed up saying only three probes are allowed. I see one of the following errors:

ERROR(ORPSIM-16583): Detected an imported model containing transistors or diodes. For such models, PSpice for TI supports a minimum of one and maximum of three traces. Reduce the number of traces and simulate again.

ERROR(ORPSIM-16583): Detected an imported model containing transistors or diodes

INFO(ORCAP-15098): Detected an imported model containing transistors or diodes. For such models, PSpice for TI supports a minimum of one and maximum of three markers. 

What does that mean?

    If you are using an imported model, PSpice for TI is subject to probing limitations during simulation. Using a third-party model will limit the tool to a maximum of three probes. If you need more than three probes, there are multiple solutions:

    • You can run the simulation multiple times, changing the probes in each simulation, until you have collected all the information you need 
    • You can modify your design to only include TI models
    • You can use built-in generic models to emulate your third-party model
    • You can purchase the full paid version of the tool from Cadence

    Please do not manually import TI models. To ensure that all built-in libraries are up-to-date with the latest models, PSpice for TI will automatically check for updates or new models. A "Library Update" popup will notify you of any updates.

    Please select "Yes" to update. Selecting "Always apply library updates" is also recommended so you don't need to click "Yes" manually. If you select "Not at this time," you will not have the most up-to-date models. If you are still experiencing probe limitations with TI models, or cannot find the TI models within the tool, please make a post in the TI E2E. This may be an indication that we need to update or modify our model.
