TIDA-01580: What components are needed to build an ecg circuit?

Hi! I am trying to determine which circuit is best for a senior design project and am confused as to what parts are needed to build a circuit for an ecg application. We are deciding between the TIDA-01580, TIDA-00096, TIDA-010029, and the circuits that use the MSP430G2 launchpad (https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slaa280b/slaa280b.pdf?ts=1612299021019) Looking through the documentation it looks like an AFE, MCU, and Boost converter are needed for all of these circuits and need evaluation modules to get them operating? If there is anyone I can talk to/connect with to figure this all out that would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

It really depends on what you want to design and for what application/purpose. I would ask few questions before proposing anything:

1. How many leads ECG? How many electrodes? Respiration required?

2. What is the power supply? Battery-operated or other?

3. Data capture? Through MCU or send over Bluetooth? Will data be displayed?

Hi Sanjay,

1. 3 Leads preferred but we are also interested in the alternative types of electrodes like the ones that uses sensors with your thumbs.

2. Battery operated would be preferred but USB power would be okay.

3. We would like the data to be displayable on a pc or over the mcu if possible. Bluetooth would be nice but isn't necessarily needed for this project.

Hi,

I would recommend looking at TIDA-01614 design.

It shows a block diagram and meets all of the specifications you have mentioned.

Are all the elements listed on the main page needed to make it functional or are extra components needed beyond these?

In fact, you will need less components than what is shown in TIDA-01614 page.

You need ECG device (ADS129x), Microcontroller and Power management (battery charger, LDO, boost etc.) at least from the block diagram of TIDA-01614.
