WEBENCH® Tools/TPS5450-Q1: Why is thermal simulation and ability to customize the schematic by editing/adding/removing components, connections removed from the new webench.

Part Number: TPS5450-Q1

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hello,

I am looking for answers to these questions, kindly answer them.

1. Why is thermal simulation removed from the new webench.

2. Why is the ability to customize the schematic by editing/adding/removing components, connections removed from the new webench.

3. When will these features be back?

4. Can you provide link to the old webench where we can do the thermal simulations and edit schematics.

Thank You

  • Hi Bhavya,

The thermal simulation function was available as part of the old Adobe Flash based WEBENCH tool. Due to end of support for Adobe Flash technology and security concerns TI decided to discontinue all Adobe Flash based design tools.

We had to prioritize most used / key features when developing the new WEBENCH tool as a replacement. Unfortunately we had to drop support for thermal simulations, ability to customize the schematic by adding/removing components as usage was relatively low. We have the feature in our backlog - but it is not prioritized and we do not have any active plans for developing this feature as well. Hope this clarifies.

The old flash based Webench is no longer available and was replaced by new HTML based tool. Please find the details here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/tools/sim-hw-system-design/f/234/t/857843

    Best Regards,
