This error is when PSpice for TI cannot retrieve the BIOS information for your machine. Please ask your IT team to unblock the BIOS info so that installation can proceed further.

PSpice for TI uses the BIOS information because your software license can only be installed on up to three machines.

this Windows is a virtual machine under kvm/qemu with a linux host. Which kind of BIOS info is needed to run PSpice in a virtual machine? Or is there a way to run PSpice for TI in Linux? Wine?

Hi Martin,

PSpice for TI does not run on Linux natively. However, running inside a VM on Linux host is probably OK.

For licensing purposes, I believe the software checks the hard disk serial number (the installation log file may tell exactly what's needed). Please set your VM to allow BIOS access.

the command
wmic bios get serialnumber
returns an empty string. So I think this ist the problem. I did not find a solution to set this in my VM. So I have to dig in this.

Thanks for sharing. I do not believe PSpice for TI used the exact same method to extract the information, but it's a good indicator that this method failed. I am checking with the developers.

Please note that this method works on my computer. I tied both command window and power shell.

Do you get anything if you just issue "wmic bios get"?

From my side, I did get confirmation that this is the very command used by the tool. However, the team does not have any experience as how to enable the access. You might need to do some more digging or contact the manufacture to resolve it.
