CC2652P: Fully compatible and capable with 2032 battery?

Given some of the chip shortages, I am wondering if using the CC2652P is going to cause me any issues as a drop-in replacement to the CC2652R? I'm also curious if anyone has practical experience running it from a 2032 battery—my main concern would be the current demands at high transmitting power. Thanks,

Hi Matt,

If you compare the pin diagrams of the CC26521 and CC2652P RGZ packages then you will find that they are not fully pin compatible, as the location of the external 32 kHz crystal is altered. The CC2652P design is actually based from the CC1352P, which is why it is advised to use CC1352P-2 projects when evaluating the CC2652P as shown in the Running Software on the CC2652P module of the BLE5-Stack Migration Guide. Based on your project needs, it may be possible to operate Bluetooth Low Energy without the 32 KHz oscillator (see SWRA499) and it is possible to use internal PA devices for coin cell operation (see SWRA636).
