CC2640R2F: Forced Mass Erase using ROM bootloader

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Dear BT Team,

I am using the ROM bootloader on the CC2640R2 to download firmware in mass production.

Sometimes it failed and I can't download again.

Is there a way to erase/write firmware again through ROM bootloader?

My boards doesn't include the JTAG pin so I can't use the JTAG and the forced mass erase function in smart flash programmer.

Thank you,

  • Hi,

In theory, you should erase the device's flash before attempting to write it. To erase the flash, you can use the function "eraseFlashBank". If needed, the SblAppEx (www.ti.com/lit/zip/swra466) showcases this function. You may also want to review the app note "CC2538/CC26x0/CC26x2 Serial Bootloader Interface".

If the question was if the CC2640R2F provides a function to automatically erase and retry the download, the answer is no. It means the device attempting the download is responsible to repeat the commands to erase the flash and write it after each download failure.

    I hope this will help,

    Best regards,
