CC2642R: Flash Memory allocation

Hello,

I am using CC2642R & my sdk version is 5.10.00.48. Here i am using simple peripheral oad onchip example. The memory allocation shows that BIM_onchip has 8K , persistent app has 123 k and simple peripheral oad onchip app has 229K flash allocated. I How can change this memory allocation ?

I want to allocate more memory for simple peripheral oad onchip app. Please let me know the steps to change this allocation.

In code composer studio , there is a memory allocation window.

Hi,

Flash memory is allocated based on the size of the image. If you wish to have more flash available for the user application, then you need to reduce the size of the persistent application. Ways to reduce flash size are described inside the user's guide.

May I ask you how much flash you would like to save? That way, I could comment on the feasibility.

Otherwise, you may be interested by the CC2652R7 device which offers a larger Flash memory.

I will requiring 5-10 k more flash.

Hi,

Depending on the features needed, I guess 3-5kB could be saved on the persistent application. If the target is closer to 10kB, and if it was me, then I would not spend time trying. However, it might be relevant to try to reduce the flash size of the OAD image - as the image is already bigger, there is more room for optimization.

For your information, migration from CC2642R1 to CC2652R7 is fairly straightforward. It would also allow to have a bit of free space for the future :)

Hi,

I am not sure what you are suggesting here. Assuming you are still linking the whole application, changing the linker file does not have an impact on the size of it.

If you want, to try something, you can review the file cc13x2_cc26x2_app.cmd and the documentation.
