I have a small problem and i need your support since you have more experience than me.
At Xsens we use the radio chip CC2541 and the amplifier CC2591 in two products, during the pcb design i followed the reference design manual and i m very satisfied with the radio distance that we can achieved.
In our lab we built a pre-compliance EMC in house to use as indicator during the prototype rounds. In order to simulate this environment the following devices are using. Tent, antenna, spectrum analyzer, amplifier from TekBox, EMC probes. The emission test it passed in our lab and also at Telefication but the immunity test failed in our lab and also at Telefication.
The real problem appeared when we try to pass the immunity test, the Packet Error Rate PER is very high (80% - 90%) in a specific frequency range 1.21GHz till 1.22GHz.
Unfortunately the regulations changed according to ETSI EN 301 489-17 because in the past we did not have this problem.
The troubleshooting that i did was to install an aluminum shield in the radio chip, i decreased the PER slightly but not 10% according to ETSI in order to pass the test.
Can you help me to find the root cause of this problem?
