CC2652R: Broadcast and data transmission

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi Team,

The customer is using CC2652R and he has the following questions:

1.As central role, can it scan and interact with another peripheral at the same time?

2.As peripheral role, can it broadcast and interact with another central at the same time?

Could you help to check it?

Regards,

Kevin

  • Hi Kevin,

Yes, the central can scan and interact with multiple peripherals at the same time and the peripheral can broadcast and  interact with multiple centrals. You can manage how many simultaneous connections a central or peripheral can have by modifying the <project>.sysconfig file. The settings for this can be found in the BLE section, under General Configuration.

Note that more connections require more RAM, so the HEAPMGR_SIZE may need to be increased.

  • Let me clarify the customer's question:

While central is scanning, it transmits data to another peripheral device at this time.

While peripheral is broadcasting, it transmits data to another central device at this time.

  • Hi Kevin,

I apologize for the late response, and thank you for the clarification.

While central is scanning, it transmits data to another peripheral device at this time.

While peripheral is broadcasting, it transmits data to another central device at this time.

When the central is actively scanning, then it will not be transmitting data. The same goes for the peripheral.

The operations are interwoven, so they appear to be happening at the same time but they are not. Since there is only one radio, the device is limited to transmitting or receiving but not both simultaneously.

    Hope that helps,

    Nima Behmanesh
