CC2540 USB dongle: no output in BTOOL

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540

Hi,

I have here the CC2540 mini development kit. today, My USB dongle started malfunctioning: When i opened BTool and tried to connect to the USB dongle, Btool says: [2] :

"<Warning> - 10:06:48.235 GAP Device Initialization Timeout... Device May Not Function

Placing a serial port sniffer between the host PC and the virtual serial port: I can see commands comming from BTool, but nothing comes back from the USB dongle.

However, it has always worked this way. I removed the device driver, reinstalled BluetoothLE.exe, but no luck there. Flashing cc2540_ble1.0_master_usb_dongle.hex with the CC debugger worked: no errors, validation procedure OK. Also the red LED on the usb dongle is on, as should be.

Tried smartRF studio 7 while connection with the CC debugger and usb dongle: started 'receiving 100 packets', and see them coming in when I push the right button of the keyfob slave, indicating the BLE hardware is still working.

Conclusion: no serial data is coming back over the virtual serial port between usb dongle and host pc; how can I resolve this?

OS= windows7professional

Jeroen
