CC2642R: CC2642 using 2 antennas with a switch in multirole example

Part Number: CC2642R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG,

HI All,

I have two antennas on my PCB and a switch SKYA21001 using CC2642 SDK 5.20 ,

I want to activate one antenna at a time and read the RSSI of surrounding ,What changes needs to be done

for selecting particular antenna at a time or both at a time and get value's for RSSI  from both .

Any inputs on this please suggest.

Regards,

Atul

  • Hi Atul,

    The way to select a specific antenna depends on the way you have designed the antenna board. In general the selection is made using a GPIO.

    Once you have selected the antenna, the Bluetooth LE operations (including RSSI measurement) can be run as usually. Based on your needs, you can change the antenna used every time in a while and collect RSSI measurements successively with the two antennas.

  • Hi Clement,

    Thanks for the quick responce..!!

    i am adding antenna schematic design on my board,

    do i need to use RF settings in sysconfig and use no of antenna switch control pins as 2 and write the callback function

    or directly using GIPO's selection needs to be done ,and how in case of switch is used.

    Atul

  • Hi,

    As both antennas are similar (i.e. same configuration from the CC2642R's point of view) and you do not need to switch antenna at an extremely specific time (like while receiving a CTE for AoA), I don't think you need to use the RF settings.

    In your case you need to do something like:

    - add support for the GPIOs ANT_SEL2 and ANT_SEL1 in Sysconfig

    - when needed, enable antenna 1 by setting the GPIOs to the proper values. Please refer to the function GPIO_write() to do so.

    GPIO_write(ANT_SEL1,1);
    GPIO_write(ANT_SEL2,0);

  • Hi clement ,

    Thanks for the quick response..!!

    Ok,i will try the same and get back if any further queries.

  • Hi Clement,

    I have added the antenna selection pin in sysconfig  GPIO section as shown below:

    And then to enable tried the command in multirole init.

    GPIO_write(ANT_SEL1,1);
    GPIO_write(ANT_SEL2,0);

     This has no effect ,even if it is not added its working is same after adding the above enable commands as well.

    so enabling only single antenna at a time is not working tried adding the code after GPIO init as well but no effect its working is

    same as usual how it works without adding those commands..

    What could be going wrong in this case ,how to debug the working of separate antenna's and read values separately.?

    Regards,

    Atul

  • Hi Atul,

    The configuration of the GPIOs does not look correct to me. These should be outputs, not inputs. In addition, please make sure to properly configure them based on your actual software.
