Downloard programe to the CC2540

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540, CC2430, CC-DEBUGGER

 Hi all:

There's a problem when I downloarded my program to the CC2540 chip. I connected the pin P2_1, P2_2 and Rst to the JTAG interface, but when I used the IAR IDE to downloard the program, it said that "Faild to identify the device.". I don't know if I should connect other pins to the JTAG.

      Thanks a lot.

  • Is the CC2540 on one of our boards (such as the keyfob or USB dongle) or is it on your own custom hardware?

When you say "the JTAG interface", are you using the CC Debugger?

    Is the CC2540 powered?

  • Hi Willis:

I used the CC2540 on my own board which like the USB dongle.  And I used the CC Debugger which can downloard the program to the CC2430 successfully. Also, I made the CC2540 powered.

          Thanks a lot.

  • You also need to connect ground to pin 1 of the CC debugger and your CC2540 power supply to pin 2. See the CC-Debugger user guide (www.ti.com/lit/swru197), Section 6.2.1, for details.

    (Edit: Fixed link)

  • Hi Fixed:

I followed the CC debugger user's guide to connect the pins Vdd, GND, DD, DC, Rst of the CC debugger to my own board. But when I debug the program using the IAR, it said "Failed to indetify the device.".

I don't know where is the problem. Is there any solution to make sure that the power of the CC250 chip is working?

        Thanks a lot.

  • What color is the LED on the CC debugger? If it is green, then the debugger has detected the CC2540 and should be working. If it is red, it is not detecting the CC2540.

As you suggested, it would be a good idea to verify that the CC2540 is powered up; this is required for the debugger to detect the device.
