Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC2640R2
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2640R2L, , BLE-STACK
Hi,
I am developing an applicaion based on the ProjectZero example for the CC2640R2 device. I have the Launchxl-cc2640r2 and CC2640R2L IC on my custom hardware. I am frequently running out of SRAM that is causing BLE stability issues. So I wanted to use Cache as GPRAM expecting that it would 8kB of SRAM extra. I followed this entire 5 step guide on the BLE Stack User's Guide about Configure the Cache as GPRAM. However, there was no change in the Memory Allocation window. All that I could see was the SRAM usage increased slightly from 12,333 bytes to 12,341 bytes. If I remove the CACHE_AS_RAM predefine, the SRAM usage goes back to 12,333 bytes.

Fig 1. SRAM usage before changes and CACHE_AS_RAM predefine (12,333 bytes)

Fig 2. SRAM usage after changes / adding CACHE_AS_RAM predefine (12,341 bytes)
I was expecting to have an extra 8kB of RAM in the Memory Allocation window. Is there a specific way to the use GPRAM which is different from normal SRAM? Or the cache as GPRAM is not configured properly?
In the end of Configure the Cache as GPRAM section of the BLE Stack User's Guide, it says "See Using the AUX RAM as RAM for an example of this.". I could not find any such example there. Do I have to configure AUX RAM as RAM in order to use Cache as GPRAM? Probably not.
How to debug this issue?
Kindly let me know as soon as possible as I am already running into a lot of problems with this MCU and its RAM usage and a lot of my development time is being wasted.
I am using Simplelink SDK verison 4.40 and TI compiler version 20.2.3.LTS
Thanks
