CC2642R: How to run Bluetooth SIG PTS for conformance test on the Simple Peripheral example

Hi,

Our BLE peripheral firmware is based on the SDK v5.20 Simple Peripheral application. We want to run the Bluetooth SIF conformance test PTS 8.0.0 to verify whether all selected conformance test is passed or not. We have created ".bls" as well for the same.

However, we do not know how to run PTS to verify the conformance behavior. Whether there is any documentation from TI I can refer to understand the test setup and mainly whether IUT (Instrument Under Test) is the Peripheral firmware only or we need to have a Host Test based firmware just like for RF/PHY testing?

May I ask you which specific tests you wish to run?

Generally speaking the stacks we provide are already certified so the need for re-test should be limited.

To answer your question, the PTS tests are run using host_test. Some the tests can be run using simple_peripheral with PTM enabled but definitely not all the tests.

We intended to run all applicable PTS tests for our peripheral based firmware. There are few tests which are failing on our peripheral based fimrware for which I already have another questions asked on other thread:

Hi Mehul,

As explained in the other thread, the PTS suite is not run against simple_peripheral, they are scripted using host_test app in specific configurations are not intended to be reproduced stock from the SDK. PTS tests are executed by sending some HCI commands (through UART) to a modified host_test example exposing some APIs we typically do not expose. The modified host_test example I am mentioning here is not available and never shared by TI.

Since the stack has already been certified (cf. https://www.ti.com/ble-qualification), you will not be required to run these tests.
