CC2650: Unable to set Tx power above 0dBm

I am seeing the same issue as the original poster of this link:

The default power is 0dBm. I measure 5.5mA current draw (nearly matches the spec sheet). If I lower the value, I see the chip current drop accordingly during Tx. Setting the power level above this has no effect on the current draw. +5dBm should result in 9mA of draw.

These plots are all the same for any value above 0dBm. (This captures an advertisement)

Hey Kevin,

May I ask, what SDK are you using? Additionally, how are you setting the TX power? I was able to observe 9mA of draw by changing the DEFAULT_TX_POWER define in ble_user_config.c to 12 (as opposed to the default index 7).

It is 2.02.07.07. I used this call: HCI_EXT_SetTxPowerCmd(HCI_EXT_TX_POWER_5_DBM);

Hey Kevin,

Can you provide some context as to where this is called? What are the tasks running (i.e. advertising, currently in a connection, etc)? What is the return value of this API?

I tried this command inside SimpleBLEPeripheral_init and see the current at 9 mA. If you have any background advertisements enabled, please disable these before calling this API and let me know if that works.
