CC2652P: Implementing NPI (UART) on external microcontroller

Hello, i am currently using the host_test example from the "SimpleLink CC13x2 26x2 SDK (5.20.00.52)" on my CC2652P custom board. To realize a Bluetooth low energy network processor for use with an external microcontroller. I already used the BTool to get an propper understanding of this use case and how a NPI (UART) frame looks like.

Now i want to realize the NPI (UART) communication on the external MCU (not a TI). Is there an example on how to implement NPI (UART) on a MCU which is not running TI-RTOS? Or do you have an advice/document on how to start (besides the document in the BLE5-Stack Users Guide)?

I couldn't find more about this topic and i wanted to ask first before i start to write my own "NPI" on the external MCU.

Hi Samuel,

The host_test example receives and send out data using the HCI format defined by the Bluetooth SIG. This means you'll find several implementation of it out there.

I can point you to the documentation we have for MSP432 (here is the plugin and here is the SimpleLink Academy).

Hi Clément,

I looked into the MSP432 documents you provided, thanks! The "SAP library" looks like what I'm looking for.

Now I have another two questions. Can i use the SAP Library in combination with my hardware (CC2652P and STM32 MCU with FreeRTOS)? And where can i find it?

When it comes to the CC2652P, I don't think it worth re-writing the code. I would recommend to use host_test example "as it" (without modification). It will save you time.
