CC2652P: For BLE Tx Test, how to set for higher Tx Power

Hi team,

My customer use CC2652P, they want to do Tx test with high Tx power. For BTool, the HCIExt_SetTxPowerCmd only set up to 5dBm. Could you instruct how to set Tx power to 18~20 dBm ? Customer can use external processor to send HCI commands to CC2652P. If BTool cannot extend option for higher Tx power, please instruct how to set the parameter of HCI command ?

Hi Jerry,

Actually, I have run some tests on my own and it seems BTool does allow higher throughput.

This screenshot comes from SDK 5.20.

Hi Clément,

Sure, we can use SmartRF Studio to test BLE function.

But it may be inconvenient for us to test in production line with this tool.

So could you please provide the HCI commands? We can try directly.

And please guide us what we need to pay attention.

If needed the HCI command to set the TxPower to 20 dBm can be found using BTool:

-Data Length    : 0x01 (1) byte(s)
 Tx Power       : 0x15 (21) (HCI_EXT_TX_POWER_20_DBM)

I use Code Composer Studio to build ble5_host_test_cc13x2p2lp_app.hex for CC2652P. Is this image can be set txpower to 20 dBM ?? Thanks.

Hi Jimmy,

Clement already verify the BTool in new SDK can support up to 20dBm. If you use new SDK to build host_test image, it should support. You can use BTool to verify first. Thank you.
