CC2652R: Inquiry about AoA solution

Hi team,

Our customer is evaluating AoA solution and I received the following inquiry from customer.

(I just tried to translate customer’s comments because I don’t have enough time to check TI AoA solution.. sorry)

Customer understood the AoA solution(SDK_5_10_00_48) as follows.

  1. The default settings allow to collect IQ data. Angle calculation and angle accuracy will depend on the post processing algorithms implemented.
  2. When customer wants to measure the angle, customer has to use BOOST XL-AOA and  it is necessary to use the firmware which is built with the compile-definition of "RTLS_PASSIVE".

Therefore, customer added  "RTLS_PASSIVE" to [Properties]-> [CCS Build]- >[Arm Compiler]-> [Predefined Symbols] and tried to build, but, they got  the following error. So, customer is asking me how to solve this error.

Is their understanding correct?

Regarding above #2, I’m not sure customer was considering they need the pre-definition of "RTLS_PASSIVE" 

For the current SDK, I’ll report that it allow only to collect IQ data and RSSI again., but, can I have your Expert’s advice/comments on this inquiry, please?

    I believe so, but I'm looping in Clement for confirmation. I don't think they should need the pre-definition of RTLS_PASSIVE, and I see in the screenshot that the issue with the RTLS_MASTER program. Perhaps there's a redefinition here?

  • Hi Miyazaki-san,

    There is no modification needed to build the RTLS examples. The customer should not add the RTLS_PASSIVE symbol when building the rtls_master example. Please point the customer to our SimpleLink Academy labs if additional guidance is required.

    SDK 5.10 showcase an embedded angle calculation algorithm.

    SDK 5.20 and later, do not showcase this embedded angle calculation algorithm. As you mentioned, newer SDK focus on the IQ data and RSSI collection.
