CC2642R: Standby Mode

Hi,

i have gone through the example called PinStanby , there it's one instruction and that is sleep for few seconds,

is it really means it's in standby mode?

i found , there are few steps to need to follow to put device in standby mode in CC26xx/CC13xx Power Management Software Developer's document (from page 8 to 10).
but i didn't find those steps in PinStandby example.

Team, iam soo confused.. Actually i want to write an application to keep device into standby mode and also should wakeup upon our request

But, iam not clear with concept , team can you please help me to get concept of this.

Hi,

The document you refer to is valid if you are porting SW to another framework.

You need not worry about the power management aspects when using examples from the SDK as the TI-RTOS manages the power modes.

You can refer to thishttp://www.ti.com/lit/pdf/sprui20 for creating custom power policy (sec 2.4).

Is that mean, sleep() function enough to make device in standby mode.

Hi Adigarla,

If the CC2642R device is in the Idle state then it should go to standby after calling sleep/Task_sleep, since TI-RTOS power management automatically handles entering/exiting power states. You can see in pinInterrupt example that the device loops sleep forever but will still exit to service the pin interrupt function. There are several relevant E2E threads which you can reference.

Hi Ryan,

Sorry for late reply.

Actually still i have a confusion on how to switch idle mode

here is my project...

it having 3 threads,

1. cli manager--> waiting for input data

2. ble thread --> it's waiting to receive the ble data

3. imu thread --> reading imu data

now i want to make the device to switch idle mode automatically when there is no processing i mean based on imu data.

can u please assist me to do this.

Do you have POWER_SAVING defined in your BLE project? Please refer to the BLE5-Stack User's Guide for more information. You may also want to consult Energy Trace for device state analysis or use other advanced Debugging to determine how your device is operating. My recommendation is to start with a project for which you know Standby Mode is entered from Idle, and work from there to add on your custom application
