CC2642R: Use custom MAC ID

Hi TI Team,

I am working with CC2642R part and want to use custom MAC ID for our devices.

I am aware that TI uses unique MAC but even so I want to change it. I have checked other threads/sources notifying that way to change MAC from smartRF flash programmer.

My target is to automate the process of writing custom MAC ID. But from what I have found it seems like I will need to feed MAC in smartRF flash programmer multiple times. Is there any way to convert this process into script OR use commandline to insert MAC?

Hi Abhishek,

Both Uniflash (dslite) and Flash Programmer 2 (srfprog) provide CLI interfaces for command line writing of the MAC address. Please find more information in the Documentation resources of each tool.

Do we have any API for changing MAC address permanently?

Please refer to attached thread of CC3220SF part. I need similar kind of information for this part also.

Run-time APIs should not be used to change the MAC address as this would require erasing the read-only flash CCFG contents, which could affect other CCFG registers if not maintained properly. The MAC address in the FCFG cannot be altered. You can create a NV section using the NVS TI Driver to store a custom application NV item if you need to create, modify, and change a MAC address during runtime.

I recommend that you continue communicating with the Wi-Fi forum concerning support for the CC3220SF. Command line Uniflash can be used to program the CC2642R as well.

Actually I already got the relevant information for WIFI part, what I meant was I needed similar type of information for CC2642R and I got for CC3220SF.

Also can you please directly direct me to command line related documentation for smartRF? I am having trouble finding it. Can I flash using commandline instead of smartRF tool?
