General BLE question with respect to TI products

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564, CC2640R2F, CC2642R, CC2650MODA

Good evening.....

First time on this forum.  Hoping I can get some answers regarding TI products.

1.  I would like to know if TI has a BLE SoC chip (contains controller, HCI and host)?  on these lines why aren't there any FCC approved modules that you can buy for integration into a product?

2.  Looking at the CC2564:  Is this strictly a PHY with the HCI and you use EITHER the PWM or the UART interface to communicate?  (Not sure I understand why there are two comms busses??)

3.  With respect to CC2564: Can you put the stack onto an MSP430 (16 bit processor)?  (Never seen a PWM interface on these).....Is the PWM interface physically an I2S that just uses PWM protocol? (why not call it I2S)

Thanks a bunch!

Steve

  • Hi Steve,

    Thank you for reaching out.
May I kindly ask if you are looking at a dual protocol (Bluetooth Classic and Bluetooth Low Energy) device or only at a Bluetooth LE device? For the first option, CC2564 is probably the right device.
If you are looking at the latter option, I would recommend to look into the CC2642R, CC2650MODA and CC2640R2F.

    Best regards.
