CC2652R: Total maximum data which User can send for one connection interval

Part Number: CC2652R

Hi Experts,

I received some inquiries from our customer as follows.

  1. How much maximum data payload size which User can use with CC2652R (slave)?
  2. How much the total maximum data which User can send for one connection interval with CC2652R(slave)?
  3. Customer wants to know what kind of profiles CC2652R supports. And they want to know sample codes of profiles which TI prepared in SDK.
  4. How long does it take to convert from “the reception of BLE packet” to “UART” with CC2652R?

Can I have your expert’s advice/comment on those customer’s inquiries, please?

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hey Miyazaki,

I've assigned your post to a colleague to comment on. Please share our Simplelink Academy modules with the customer which are meant to help customers get started. Additionally, our User's Guide's has additional content. The above collateral may answer most of the customer's questions.

  • Hi Miyazaki,

As Ammar mentioned, I would highly recommend the customer leverage the SimpleLink Academy modules and the User's Guide. The content contained in these resources will be very helpful in ramping up the customers and answered a lot of their questions. Here are my answers and comments on the provided questions

Customer wants to know what kind of profiles CC2652R supports. And they want to know sample codes of profiles which TI prepared in SDK.

In a BLE connection, the maximum packet payload is 251 bytes when using LE Data Length Extension.

Customer wants to know what kind of profiles CC2652R supports. And they want to know sample codes of profiles which TI prepared in SDK.

This depends on the length of the connection interval and on how the peripheral and the central devices are configured. I would recommend referencing the Throughput Example (Peripheral and Central) available on our GitHub. These examples maximize the data transfer between the devices and showcase the kind of throughput these devices can support.

Customer wants to know what kind of profiles CC2652R supports. And they want to know sample codes of profiles which TI prepared in SDK.

There are a few profiles present in the SDK for this device. Some of these profiles can be found in the {SDK}\source\ti\ble5stack\profiles directory. There are also many examples that can be found in the SDK. Which may be useful to start development with. I would also recommend looking into the BLE Examples Github and the Texas Instruments Github repositories.

How long does it take to convert from “the reception of BLE packet” to “UART” with CC2652R?

I would recommend the customer leverage the Simple Serial Socket  examples (Client and Server) present in the BLE Examples Github. These examples implement UART over BLE. The code contained within these projects is able to take UART input and convert it to a BLE notification to send over BLE. The code is also able to receive BLE and convert it to UART output. If the customer is interested in UART only examples, then there are a few present in the SDK as well.
