CC2640: Btool understanding

Dear e2e,

Currently our 2640 transmits to dongle cc2540. We would like to instead send data from the 2640 to ble on Android watch. Please advice! Currently bTool plays a major role on windows for the cc2540. In few words, what does the bTool do and what does the firmware on the dongle do?

Hi,

To complete the previous answer, the firmware running on the CC2540 or CC2640 exposes the Host-Controller Interface layer (called HCI). BTool sends and receives over UART the HCI commands and events.

The HCI commands and events are defined by the Bluetooth Specifications.
