Hi,

In ANCS profile, how to Differentiate Whatsapp call and Whatsapp msg from Normal call and  Normal msg.

    Hi,

    I am afraid there is no way to differentiate the the calls coming from different apps and or the "normal" phone. Similarly, there is no way to retrieve the app a message is coming from.

    This limitation is coming from the ANCS specifications. As you can see in Table 3-1 (copied below for convenience), the CategoryID depends on the type of event (call, email, social, etc.), not on the app.

    Is that possible  with any other BLE stack version (higher version) or BLE chip ? (Identifying Normal Call/Msg or Whatsapp Call/Msg)

    Hi,

    This limitation is due to the ANCS specifications (owned by Apple). As a consequence, I am afraid changing the device or the Bluetooth stack version used will not solve the issue.

    If you wish, I wanted to share a personal experience... I had been complaining of my smart watch for the same reasons (i.e. not knowing from which app the messages come from)... then I read the ANCS specs and realized the real issue was not the watch. All this to tell you this is a "problem" you are not the only one to experience :)
