CC2652R7: Device is locked. Not able to flash code.

Hi Pratik,

Did you use the i2secho example for the LP-CC2652R7 from the SIMPLELINK-CC13XX-CC26XX-SDK v6.10?  What changes were made and did you perform any modifications to the Device Configuration inside SysConfig?  If you disabled the Bootloader and CPU DAP then the device is unrecoverable and cannot be further accessed.

We used LP-CC2652R7 from the SIMPLELINK-CC13XX-CC26XX-SDK v5.20.00.52 and CCS 10.4. Only I2S and I2C pin configuration was modified as per our custom board. No modifications done in  Device Configuration inside SysConfig. 

when we connect to smartRf studio, MCU is getting detected (MCU is not bricked)

Is there any other way to unlock the device ?

Thanks for confirming SysConfig settings.  The JTAG should still be enabled but there could be a fault in the custom board design which is causing stability issues incorrectly manifesting as a JTAG lock error.  You could test whether the firmware is an issue by programming a LaunchPad with the same image before re-programming it with another compatible example.  I recommend that you submit a review through SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS.  Are you able to connect to the CC2652R7 in Smart RF Studio?  You can also try a mass erase with Flash Programmer 2 but this should be the same instruction as with Uniflash.

We tested on spare custom board today and could not reproduce the issue.

Smart RF studio detects the MCU but fails to open the device control panel

Flash programmer does not support CC2652R7 MCU. So I did mass erase with uniFlash.

I will check with my hardware team for submitting design to  SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS

Please let me know if any alternate option is available to unlock the device.

If the device really is locked then it would have to be recovered through the Bootloader, however it does not appear to be enabled through your SysConfig settings.  This would indicate that the device is permanently locked and inaccessible.

Apart from syscfg settings is there any other reasons for device getting locked ?

Can you please tell the steps required to enable bootloader settings in firmware.

Writing values to the ERASE_CONF and/or CCFG_TAP_DAP_0 registers, located in the CCFG at the last page of flash memory, that are not the reset defaults will disable the ability to access the device's JTAG port.  Only the bootloader has the ability to recover the device by re-programming the CCFG in this instance.  The bootloader's access options (backdoor entry pin number/level) can be configured through the Sysconfig -> Device Configuration module, however these values affect the BL_CONFIG register of the CCFG and are therefore also susceptible to flash writes, either intentional or accidental.  Make sure to use LP_CC2652R7 example projects as a base for your CC2652R7 device.
