CC2564MODA: QDID 64631 appears to be not acceptable to Bluetooth SIG post 1 Feb 2023

Part Number: CC2564MODA
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2564C

We have designed in CC2564MODACMOG and are seeking to register with Bluetooth SIG, quoting QDID 64631 as specified on the data sheet.  We get the warning that the module implements a protocol which is scheduled to be withdrawn on 2023-02-01 (which we read as 1 Feb 2023).  We are then asked if there will be an updated QDID for use after that date.

1) Is the QDID on the data sheet valid after 1 Feb 2023?

2) If not is the part being re-qualified with a new QDID? If so, when will it be available and is the software stack (including MFI support) being updated?

3) If it is not, then is the part effectively obsolete? - I haven't seen any warnings on the TI site to this effect and today the datasheet quotes QDID 64631

Thank you for your help. This is urgent since we need to register our use with with BTSIG.

  • Brian,

Let me look into this internally, it might take me a couple of days due to the holiday season and people being out.

  • Thanks...on further research I believe that the device is qualified to BT4.1, which is being 'withdrawn' by BTSIG 1 Feb 2023. BT 4.2 added internet access which AFAIK is not supported in your stack. So, the question becomes are you planning to support BT4.2 with this device and generate a new QDID. Otherwise I do not beleive that one can use it after 1 Feb 2023 as a pre-qualified device with BTSIG - please correct me if that is not accurate.

  • Hello Brian,

We do not plan on updating the QDID after that date since this module is based on the CC2564B device and only qualified for 4.1

We suggest you look at our CC2564C which works as BT5.1, unfortunately, we do not offer a module for this but we do have third-party partners who do.

visit https://www.ti.com/tool/3P-WIRELESS-MODULES for a full list of these.
