CC1352R: Simple broadcaster Extended Advertisement

I'm trying to modify the simple broadcaster example in BLE5 stack to broadcast more than 30 bytes of data (~240 bytes). But when I change legacy advertisement to extended in sysconfig (and remove references to scanResData), the code compiles, but GapAdv_create() returns FAILURE status.

Any pointers to examples / documentation would be much appreciated.

TIA

PS: preferably without making connection, since the receiver end device can change with time.

Can you show how you are creating your advertisement? Are you using sysconfig to generate it?

Yes, I tried to change sysconfig to below,

and add additional payload to advertisement data

When I debug the code, it stops at this assertion:

Hi B P,

I have found the issue. The specification says that it it is not allowed to have an AdvA field when the primary PHY is set to "Coded".

The issue lies in the fact that at line 408 of simple_broadcaster:

We override the SysConfig eventProps configuration. Comment out those lines and the advertisement is created successfully.

Hi Arthur

Thanks a lot! the code seems to be running now on the cc1352r board without any assertion errors, but I am unable to detect the advertisements on the receiver (I'm using python Bleak scanner on windows) - my receiver could detect legacy advertisements. Do I need a different type of receiver for extended advertisements?

Hi B P,

What BLE PHY is your receiver using? In the meantime, you can change the primary PHY of the advertisement to 1M, you should hopefully detect the messages.

Hi Arthur,

After little digging, it appears to me that the python package I am using doesn't support extended advertisements out of the box.

Anyways, I'm marking this as resolved since the Launchpad code seems to be running without errors.

Could you please share some commonplace technologies used with extended advertisements (windows softwares, mobile apps, etc?)

Hi Balaji,

Have you come across that package? https://github.com/nccgroup/Sniffle

Android also supports extended advertisement out of the box, and so must IOS.
