CC2340R5 cannot perform HCIExt command

Hi TI,

I use the FW built from “C:\ti\simplelink_lowpower_f3_sdk_7_10_00_35\examples\rtos\LP_EM_CC2340R5\ble5stack\host_test”. I can perform HCI command but cannot perform HCIExt. Attachment is test log.

    Hi,

    HCIExt_EndModemTestCmd and HCIExt_ModemTestTxCmd are not supported for the moment.

    We recommend you use SmartRF Studio 8 (https://www.ti.com/tool/download/SMARTRF-STUDIO-8) to setup the device to transmit (or receive) continuous waves.

    Hi Clément,

    There is no problem with SmartRF Studio 8 when I test. However, it need to use TI Launchpad for SmartRF Studio 8. It is suitable to use Btool for RF certification test because we don't need another Launchpad. Could you please tell me how to use Btool to have Tx test?

    Hi,

    If you are asking how to use BTool to transmit Bluetooth LE test packets, then I will kindly ask you to refer to the functions HCI_LE_TransmitterTest, HCI_LE_ReceiverTest, HCI_LE_EnhancedTransmitterTest and HCI_LE_EnhancedReceiverTest.

    If you are asking to use BTool to transmit a continuous wave, then I am afraid this will not be possible for the moment.You will have to use SmartRF Studio (as indicated before) or consider leveraging the example <SDK>\examples\rtos\LP_EM_CC2340R5\prop_rf\rfCarrierWave

    Hi,

    You provide 4 HCI command and there are no problem. However, HCI_LE_TransmitterTestand and HCI_LE_EnhancedTransmitterTest cannot change output power required by the certification lab. Could you provide how to change output power with HCI command?

    Hi,

    In order to change the TxPower when using Direct Test Mode (DTM), you should use the command HCIExt_SetMaxDtmTxPowerCmd.

    The opCode of this command is 0xFC30 and it takes two parameters the value (in dBm) and the fraction.

    So if you want to set the TxPower at 0 dBm, you should send  01 30 FC 02 00 00

    If you want to set the TxPower at 8 dBm, you should send  01 30 FC 02 08 00

    By default, the TxPower for DTM is set to the maximum achievable by the device (i.e. 8 dBm for the CC2340R5).

    Last but not least, in case you are looking at changing the TxPower for non-DTM commands, you should use the command HCIExt_SetTxPowerDbmCmd. The opCode is 0xFC2Fand the parameters identical to the command HCIExt_SetMaxDtmTxPowerCmd.
