LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: Transmit Pwer

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1

I am using board CC2652R1 launch pad for the peripheral Bluetooth. I used example code for simple peripheral,  I choose  Tx power 5dBm  but on board its actually -2dBm. Kindly help me for this issue.

  • Hi,

Thanks for your inquiry. There are many ways and configurations to measure the RF performance of the development kit, therefore it is hard to pinpoint an exact root cause for the measurement you are seeing. One detail is certain: the simple_peripheral project will transmit packets at a non-continuous pace and use channel hopping, which will certainly be very difficult to measure accurately. We recommend using SmartRF studio or Btool in order to set your board/device to perform continuous transmissions at a fixed channel and therefore evaluate the radio performance.

Details about these tools are shown at the application note below:

One additional detail: the Launchpad board comes configured with the RF path routed to the antenna. Any measurement of its irradiated power requires a well controlled environment such as an anechoic chamber, a calibrated receiving antenna and equipment. For evaluation of the radio performance without the need to have such support infrastructure, the alternative is to perform a conducted test, which requires re-routing the RF path to the internal SMA/U.FL connector.

Details about this change can be seen in the topic Advanced use of a similar Launchpad development board in this link.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
