CC2640: Is cc2650 simple peripheral code is compatible with the custom board cc2640f128

Hi,

The CC2650 simple peripheral works for the CC2650 Launchpad. If you are using a CC2640F128 custom board then you need to modify the CC2650 simple peripheral to work for your custom board.

I made the changes as per the above given link I'm using CC2650EM_5XD, I flashed the code but still I can't able to find the BLE on phone.

Hi Shealtiel,

Do you see any UART activity on the UART pins (or through a UART terminal)? I would like to confirm if program boots at all or if there is an issue with the BLE side of things.

Provide the details about your custom board. What is difference from CC2650 Launchpad? Share your schematic diagram.

There is no much difference as compared to the cc2650 Launchpad but for custom board we are using cc2640f128RHB that is 5XD .

Hi,

You need to debug your code and see where it hangs. If you are not able to debug due to you are not able to connect, you need to do failure analysis and check why your board is not able to connect. You need to check JTAG connection, and everything needed for the MCU to work.

 I can able to do debug. Here it hang i debugged this  GAP_SetParamValue(TGAP_CONN_PAUSE_PERIPHERAL, DEFAULT_CONN_PAUSE_PERIPHERAL); 

In this function  static ICall_Errno ICall_primWaitMatch(ICall_WaitMatchArgs *args)

here it will hang - while (ICALL_SYNC_HANDLE_PEND(taskentry->syncHandle, timeout))

There is no reason for the code to hang there. I suspect the cause of the hang is 1 code line above the Display_open(). Comment out this code and see if it still hangs at GAP_SetParamValue(TGAP_CONN_PAUSE_PERIPHERAL, DEFAULT_CONN_PAUSE_PERIPHERAL);

Also, what BLE Stack, and CCS version are you using?

Ble stack im using is ble_sdk_2_02_07_06 and ccs version Code Composer Studio 12.3.0

How did you import the simple peripheral? Did you select both app and stack with copy to workspace option? Did you rebuild all the stack first then app before debugging?

Try using CCSv8.2 and install ARM Compiler 5.2.9. Rebuild all stack then app.

The hang at that code line is unusual. Can you load the same simple peripheral at CC2650 Launchpad and see if it also hangs?

I have CC2640R2 launchpad with me now i tested with simple peripheral_r2 example code there it is working fine but i can't use that code to my custom board because its not compatible with our custom board. Can you suggest any other method.

Hi,

Your code should not hang at that code line. Just to make sure your BLE Stack 2.2 has not been modified, delete it and install it again.

Also unusual suggestion try the same at another PC.

I have worked with several custom CC2640 boards and I never had a hang at that code line. The last suggestion I can give you is try at another board. There is that rare possibility that there is a problem with CC2640 MCU. Other than that I am out of ideas.

Anyway wait for a TI Engineer to reply.

I have launchpad i.e. CC2640R2 in which i tested simple peripheral_r2 example it was working fine.

But my custom board  in which I'm working now is CC2640F128RHB (5XD)  i.e. not compatible with CC2640R2, So I'm using CC2650(ble_sdk_2_02_07_06 )example code because it is compatible with CC2640F128 I tested with I2C, SPI which is working fine. But now i want BLE so i took CC2650 Simple peripheral example i.e. from ble_sdk_2_02_07_06.

I Flashed Simple peripheral code to custom board (CC2640F128) but  I can able to do debug.

It wont hangs near start-up and non BLE work fine. As I mentioned above it will hangs in GAP_SetParamValue(TGAP_CONN_PAUSE_PERIPHERAL, DEFAULT_CONN_PAUSE_PERIPHERAL);

Got it. Thank you for clarifying. Have you ever been able to flash BLE projects before without the hanging behavior? If not, then its possible there may be a problem with the board design itself. Have you submitted your design for a design review at SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS?
