CC2651R3: Certification documents for crypto hardware and cryptographic algorithms

Part Number: CC2651R3
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652RB,

Hi,

We are developing a new Bluetooth product using CC2651R3 and CC2652RB chips from TI. I want to know about whether crypto hardware's and algorithms used in these chips are certified, if so, Are they certified according to FIPS PUB 140-3 or FIPS PUB 140-2? I did search under Technical documentation, but I can't able to find any similar documents. Could anyone help on this?

My development setup:

IDE: Code Composer Studio

SDK: SimpleLink CC13xx CC26xx SDK

Bluetooth Stack: BLE5-Stack

RTOS: TI-RTOS7

Thanks!

  • Hi,

I verified with a colleague and he confirmed that unfortunately we don't have FIPS PUB 140 certification on our Bluetooth LE devices. Sorry.

For your reference, the device datasheet usually includes the various methods of encryption. For CC2651R3, for example, check section 9.5.

    Hope this helps,

  • Hi,

Thanks for your reply. If FIPS PUB 140 certification is not available, Could you please check, are there any other certification available for the crypto hardware used in CC2651R3 chip?

    Regards,

    dev

  • Hi,

Apart from what is mentioned in section 12.8.2 of the TRM (FIPS 197), the device documentation does not have any published certification specifically applied to the crypto engine.

Since the standards change from time to time, later today I will consult with a colleague to confirm if this statement is still valid.

    Regards,

    Rafael
