Hello.!!

My name is Narayanan (R&D - Hardware Design), I have some query, please help me to solve it.

We currently use the CC2500 RF transceiver for local wireless communication in one of our products. Attached below is the functional block diagram of the transmitter and receiver.

We use chip antenna for both transmitter and receiver. Chip Antenna Details, Part Number 479480001 (2.4GHz Bluetooth, WLAN, ZigbeeTm Chip RF Antenna 2.4GHz ~ 2.483.5GHz 3dBi Solder Surface Mount), Manufacturer Molex.

Also, we use a 2.4GHz range extender (CC2592) at the receiver end.

We are developing a new wireless product with the CC2561R3.

Please suggest us the following things

1. Can the same chip antenna (ie, 479480001) be used for CC2561R3? If not, please suggest the correct part number.

2. Share reference design file of RF section with chip antenna for CC2561R3

Note: PCB antenna reference design is available on website for RF section, if we get chip antenna reference design, it will help to design the product without error.

If you provide the above details, it will be of great help to complete the product design without error.

    Narayanan,

    Thank you for your inquiry. To use a chip antenna with either of the two devices, you must follow the manufacturer recommendations with regards to RF matching, DC blocking as well as routing and mounting. In this case, provide footprints for matching components in your new design.

    1. We don't have specific recommendations of models of chip antennas, but the application note below covers the overall subject of antennas well - check section 7.2.1.3.

    2. Given the use of chip antennas is quite straightforward, we don't have a reference design with the CC2651R3 and a chip antenna.
