LP-EM-CC2340R5: Error when trying to connect to target: "Debugging is not allowed. If this is not expected, check your CCFG"

Hello,

I got a brand new LP-EM-CC2340R5 today. I connected it to my brand new LP-XDS110ET and tried to connect to the LaunchPad with CCS 12.5.0. But I get the following message when I try to connect:

Cortex_M0P: Flash loader: CC23xx_FLASH_LIBRARY_VERSION 3.17.10.24
Cortex_M0P: Debugging is not allowed. If this is not expected, check your CCFG.

My device info (via UniFlash):

When searching for that error, I see some threads where the issue occurs when using rev 1.0 but I am using rev 2.0.

Am I missing some step?

Hi Ki,

Are you able to do a chip-erase in Uniflash?

Which SDK are you using?
For the latest 7.20 SDK, the release notes recommend CCS 12.4, can you try that out?

Also, can you try interacting with the board using SmartRF Studio 8?

I was on a call with Ryan Brown and we can consistently reproduce the issue when trying to start a project-less debug session after the flash has been erased. Interestingly, a project debug session succeeds in connecting and flashing the program. Once this succeeds, subsequent project-less debug sessions are successful until the flash is erased again.
