CC2340R5: Segger J-Link error when connecting: support of dormant mode

Why do some Segger J-Link interfaces, particularly older ones, fail to connect to the CC2340R5 and indicate an error described as "no support for dormant mode handling". Is there any documentation I can use to learn more about this mode? Do we offer any workarounds?

JTrace version of 3.2, dated 2013. Newer models do not show the issue. I am trying to learn more about dormant mode and why it is a feature of the CC2340.

Hello Lenio Cacula,

We are aware that some older Segger J-Link debug probes cannot work with the CC2340R5, the issue seems to be caused by the impossibility for these probes to be updated. I would recommend visiting/reference a similar issue on Segger forums ([SOLVED] How to switch the dormant operation mode from JTAG to SWD in JLINK Commander - J-Link/Flasher related - SEGGER - Forum). TI does not control the firmware on Segger probes, you could bring this issue up to Segger.
