CC2640: Problems with custom boards СС2640

Hi everyone,

I have designed many custom boards using the CC2640/CC2650.
Everything works perfectly.

But on the new custom board I encountered inappropriate behavior of Flash Programmer2 (cJTAG LaunchPad CC2650).
Sometimes CC2640 is not detected. This happens by accident.



Also, the “Erase-Program-Verify” error often occurs.
Sometimes "Forced Mass Erase" + "Program-Verify" help.



I assume that the problem is in the PCB, wires (5 sm) and cJTAG connectors.

Help me understand exactly what the problem is.

    If you believe there could be a possible PCB issue, we can try to do a schematic review (SIMPLELINK-2-4GHZ-DESIGN-REVIEWS Design tool | TI.com). Did you follow the custom board instructions in our documentation in the SDK? What exact debugger are you using? 

    Sometimes CC2640 is not detected. This happens by accident.

    Could you expand on what you mean by "This happens by accident", is this a random occurrence, is the issue solved if you unplug and plug it back in?

    To program and debug a custom board, I use the debugger from the LAUNCHXL-CC2650.
    Only CC2650/CC2650 detection and flash programming work unstable (randomly).
    After programming, the board always works stably. And also the 2.4GHz part works great.

    It is the moment of interaction with the programmer (Flash Programmer2 + cJTAG LaunchPad CC2650) that is unstable and random.

    Did you already request a schematic review for your custom board? If this might be a HW connection issue I can alert someone from the HW team.

    After programming, the board always works stably. And also the 2.4GHz part works great.

    This seems good, though its odd that getting the device flashed in the first place is unreliable. 

    Only CC2650/CC2650 detection and flash programming work unstable (randomly).

    When you do encounter this issue what do you notice specifically about it? Do you disconnect/reconnect the board until it detects correctly?

    Yes exactly!!!


    I started experimenting.
    I disconnected all the extra circuits
    Left only 24-MHz, 32.768-kHz(although it is not needed for flashing) Crystal Oscillators with capacitors and additional capacitors for Vdds, and Reset_N.

    I don't know the protocol cJTAG (TMS, TCK, Reset).
    Using a storage oscilloscope, I took oscillograms of the signals cJTAG: TMS, TCK.
    I didn't see any problems
    Vdds=3.28V  from LaunchPad.


    I have no answer (((

    If possible, could you provide your setup/hw connection to your board access (cJTAG). 

    Do you happen to have another laptop/device you can test with Flash Programmer 2 to see if the issue persists between devices? (making sure this is not a driver/program issue). Does UniFlash recognize the device?
