CC2650: Increase OAD speed

Hi Itay,

To increase OAD speed, I would recommend reducing the connection interval while increasing the PDU size. Making sure that the packet size is as large as possible and the packets are being sent as quickly as possible should improve the duration of the OAD procedure.

We currently send each FW Block as 16 bytes - does that mean we can send larger chunks?

Is there a reference code for iOS or Android that implement fast OAD?

We recently released the SimpleLink Connect application on both iOS and Android which supports OAD, but I am unsure if it will work directly with the CC2650. We do have the source code freely available, so it may still be a good starting point for development.

Hi,

This reference does not include the ability to control "Timer delay" and "Packets per timer/notification" parameters (and does not support CC2650 but it's OK).

Is there a reference code for the original iOS SensorTag application? At lease for the OAD code?

Hi,

You should be able to implement timer delay or packet per timer/notification logic in your BLE device on the application level. If by packets, you are referring to the payload size, then this can be configured by modifying the characteristic data length of the notification characteristic and by increasing the PDU size used in the connection.
