LP-EM-CC2340R5: Can we have an option to develop BLE based application without using FreeRTOS (Non-OS version) for CC2340 wireless MCU

Part Number: LP-EM-CC2340R5

Hi ,

We are using the The simplelink_lowpower_f3_sdk_7_40_00_64 , which provides the basic ble example which is written using  FreeRTOS.

Question #1:

Does the TI provided  FreeRTOS based application can be taken as reference and develop our  production firmware.

In that case do we need to procure FreeRTOS license separately or the license TI got for using FreeRTOS can be leveraged.

Question#2:

Do we have non RTOS based sample BLE application such that we can avoid using RTOS based firmware application.

Also please suggest if there are any other alternate method.

  • Ilanchezhian,

Thanks for reaching out and providing the SDK details!

For your first question, you are able to use the TI example applications as a starting point to develop your own application firmware. Also, no license is necessary for FreeRTOS as the FreeRTOS kernel and other FreeRTOS libraries are distributed for free under the MIT open source license.

For your second question, there are currently no non-RTOS examples within the SDK but I can inquire internally to see if there are plans to include any in later SDK release or another method of obtaining a sample application.

    Best regards,

    Luke
