CC2340R5-Q1: How should we do to get higher RSSI level from Phone when scanning only

Hi Sir,

We want to get RSSI from Phone by BLE scaning only for distance measurements.but the RSSI level we get by scanning is lower than the RSSI level after BLE connection.

CC2340R5-Q1 get RSSI level is about -58~-60 dBm when scanning only, without connection.

CC2340R5-Q1 get RSSI level is about -37~ -40 dBm after connection.

Please check our test result as shown below.

I can NOT increase the Tx power setting on Phone when advertising, Is there any setting on CC2340R5-Q1 we can modify to get higher RSSI level when scanning only?

Hi Mao,

It's possible that the phone is using different TX powers for adv vs connection. I have seen this before. Can you test between two TI launchpads using a conducted path?

We tested the RSSI between TI launchpads,the RSSI is normal,-3x dBm.

Hi Mao,

Based on this, it's reasonable to assume the root cause with your observation is that the phone is using different tx powers for adv vs connected. This is pretty common for devices to conserve battery on the mobile side.
