CC2640R2F: BLE SoC CC2640R2FYFVT RF performance

Part Number: CC2640R2F

Hi,

It is mentioned in datasheet that differential ended RF configuration have slightly better RF performance.

After fabricating the new design(differential ended RF configuration with internal bias) we did some internal testing and found that the RF performance got even worse than the previous version. I have shared hardware level comparison between latest and previous version in table below. The Gerber and schematics of both designs that I cant put in e2e..

Testing method and results:

We placed a beaconing device at ~4 meter distance from V3 and V4 smart-hub PCBAs and compared the RSSI of received signal.  Below are the results:

Settings for RF Front End for V3 and V4 hardware in the FW are:

It can be seen that there is almost 20dB difference between V3 and V4.

Can you check if our FW settings are correct based on the hardware of V4. Also if its not the FW issue, we would really appreciate if you can have a look at layout to find the possible root cause of this poor performance.Just let me send you layout files in private via mail, not e2e.

Thanks.
