CC2642R: CC2642R1FRGZ chip Power cycle at temperature

Hi Team,

We have used CC2642R1FRGZ device in one of the project and interface that device to another host via UART communication & some handshake signals via port pins.

Basic interface is working we are able to communicate CC2642 to another host via UART.

Running this HW Qualification tests high /low temperature (-40 to +85).

Found some observation during high temp testing (Duration is 24 hours). when HW is power cycled (Turn ON/OFF power to HW) during high temperature operation drawing high current & unable to communicate via UART. Some HW devices we are able to comminate when HW is back to room temp and some HW devices showing fail.

Please check once below sch & suggest any improvements needed.

Hi,

Sorry for the delay.

Is the host and CC2642 on the same board?
To see if CC2642 side of UART is working at high temp, can you test the TX line to see if data is being sent on the line and is valid?

We connected Logic analyzer between Host to module CC2642 interface TX,RX, other handshake signals. As a high level it looks good. Needs to validate in detail.

Why this problem seen only CC2642 . Earlier we used CC2640 with same host , not drawing high current when power cycle during high/low temp operation.

Is any Architecture difference between both chips, any FW configuration need to modify?

Hi,

Host and CC2642 on the same board? Yes.

We are using TX/RX pins internal pullup resistors. Our product is battery operated system. need to reduce active avg current as less as possible.

Hi,

Both CC2640 and CC2642 are same from UART configuration perspective.
The driver-lib API IOCPinTypeUart() sets the pins to IOC_STD_INPUT and IOC_STD_OUTPUT which have no IO pull settings.
Can you disable the pull-ups and see if it makes a difference?
